How does it feel?

Women's Saucony Guide 15

As I was running, some things stood out to me. First, I was automatically taken back by the support in the heel. As soon as I stepped my foot down, I could instantly tell that the shoe would be great for those who may be pronated in their strides. My heel didn’t lift or feel as though it would slip out. However, as I had mentioned previously, I do believe that this is a mid-distance shoe. As I was running, I did start to feel some heel pain. Although, this pain may have been from other things; The tough and sturdy heel of the shoe began to be a little too much for my foot to handle. I have a narrow foot and the upper fits snug considering the tongue of the shoe is connected to the inside. There is a difference between tight and snug. We don’t want a tight shoe; one that cuts off circulation. However, for those who like the feeling of a hug around their foot would love the upper of the guide. Moreover, they do carry this shoe in a wide and will accommodate those with a wider foot. The mesh upper was nice and breathable. I typically wear thicker socks and the stretchable mesh allowed for the perfect temperature during my runs. I could feel air moving through allowing my feet to be cooled down. Moreover, the sustainability of the shoe made my feet happy and comfortable.

In’s & Out’s!!

Women's Saucony Guide 15

Let’s talk a little bit about the ins and outs of the Guide. This shoe has dropped an ounce in weight with the previous men’s guide weighing 10.5 and now weighing 9.5 oz. The women’s only weighing 8.2 oz, and was weighing 9.4 oz. Since this shoe is lightweight, yet durable it truly makes it the perfect shoe for not only running but, everyday activities. Additionally, the new Guide has a higher stack height for those who may have a higher instep. This shoe fits true to size and is very secure throughout. The plush heel cushion on the inside of the shoe was a pleasant surprise. This additional padding made the shoe feel that more comfortable. The tread/outsole of the shoe is flat and overall, a bit thinner than what I typically wear. Lastly, this shoe has an 8mm offset and compliments a great heel to toe stride.

Now, for the opinion part

Who Is This Shoe Good For?

Saucony Guide 15

The Guide 15 is a great shoe for those who are looking for a bit more stability without adding the extra weight. If you are a fan of the Kinvara but looking for more arch support, then I highly recommend this shoe. The Guide 15 comes in fun and vibrant colors including teal and bright yellow. As a mid-distance runner, myself, this shoe was perfect for a 5k run. If you are a person who loves to go on walks or even cross train in the gym the Guide is a great choice. I highly recommend the Guide for those who need extra arch support or for those who may have an unsteady gait. Indeed, for anyone working to neutralize their gait by working on their walks and strides, and neutralizing base will help one reach that goal. Moreover, if you are someone who wants an in-between to a sturdy/tough and plush shoe I would recommend giving this shoe a try. It’s responsiveness, mildly firm, and dense cushion makes you feel like you are getting just the power you need to get the most out of your workout.

Who Is This Shoe NOT Good For?

However, this shoe is not for everyone. For those who love a super bouncy and soft shoe would not be a fan of the Guide 15. As I have mentioned previously the outside heel cushion contains a rigid plastic material that can be a bit too tough and harsh. If you are looking for a long-distance running shoe or a shoe made for long working shifts, this may not be up to your standards. Although, this shoe is super fun to look at, it does get dirty quick. Furthermore, those who prefer a shoe with a roomy toe box may find this shoe a little too narrow. Lastly, I would not recommend this shoe for someone who does trail running. The tread of the shoe is flat and doesn’t contain enough rigidity to be considered a non-slip shoe.  Overall, I truly enjoyed my runs and workouts in the new Guide 15. If you are someone looking for a good lightweight, responsive, and supportive shoe then go give this one a try!
