How does it feel?
I had heard many exciting things about the Novablast 3 when it came out. I couldn’t wait to try it out, so right when it came in I had to buy a pair. When I first saw the shoe I thought to myself, “Now that looks like a fast shoe.” Right when I started running in it I immediately felt how nice the FFBlast+ foam is. It isn’t too soft, but it still feels like you’re getting a good cushion on each step. The best way I could describe it is as a trampoline underfoot. The bounce and energy return this shoe gives is off the charts. I found that I was accidentally turning up the pace many times on my runs. The lockdown is great, with a nice padded heel, and the all new recycled mesh upper that was designed for a better fit and more breathability.
The Novablast 3 got a whole makeover from the Novablast 2.The Novablast 3 is lighter, bouncier, and more supportive all due to the foam change; FFBlast to FFBlast+. The shoe is also a lot more sustainable due to the new upper, making the shoe 50% recycled material. The price has remained the same at $139.95, a great bang for your buck.
First Impression- The second I put this shoe on I felt fast. I started walking and running up and down the street, and all I could think about and feel was the bounce and energy return. The way you can turn up the pace so effortlessly in this shoe is mindblowing. This is the perfect shoe for distance runners who crank out long miles, because of the endless energy return.
First Run- My first run in the Novablast 3 was a 5 mile run to get back into conditioning for track. I couldn’t help but smile the whole time I was running because I have never felt a shoe like this before. It is comfortable, breathable, bouncy, and your legs feel refreshed after every run. I usually like to keep my easy pace around 7:00-7:10 per mile but in this shoe I found myself down in the 6:45-6:50 range because of that new foam, I just felt faster without being taxed physically for it. It is by far the best shoe I have ever ran in and I am excited to keep using it in the future.
Who This Shoe Is Good For:
This shoe is perfect for people who plan on training high mileage, but also want to race and workout in it. The new foam in this shoe makes it a workhorse for all kinds of miles, from recovery to workout, mileage to racing, this shoe can do it all. The Novablast 3 would not be good if you are a person that pronates or needs arch support due to it being a neutral shoe, and the high stack height for pronators would make the shoe unstable.
