GURU TIP: StoneGuard™ for underfoot protection!

TECH TIP: Introducing the king (or queen) of the trails, guard of stones, 9th of its name... the Altra Lone Peak 9+! The Lone Peak continues to reign supreme thanks to the lighter Altra EGO™ foam and a StoneGuard™ for underfoot protection while maintaining ground feel. Never lose footing thanks to the Vibram® Megagrip outsole with increased durability and supreme grip. A 100% recycled ripstop mesh upper and Roomy Toe Box allow you to move freely with max durability. No matter if you're a trail running loyalist or a weekend hiker, you'll love what the Altra Lone Peak 9+ has to offer!

WHAT MAKES IT A "+"? The 9+ is the Lone Peak 9 you know with one big upgrade: a full Vibram® Megagrip outsole in place of the standard MaxTrac™ rubber. Same fit, same 25mm of cushion, same zero drop, with more bite on wet rock, roots, muddy singletrack and slick limestone.

BUY THIS SHOE IF... you're looking for something agile and rugged with top-tier grip.

DON'T BUY THIS SHOE IF... you're running the streets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Altra Lone Peak 9+ zero drop?
Yes. The Lone Peak 9+ has a 0mm heel-to-toe drop and 25mm of cushion, so your heel and forefoot sit level like they would barefoot. If you're coming from a traditional 8 to 12mm drop shoe, ease in with shorter runs and hikes for the first few weeks.

What's the difference between the Lone Peak 9 and Lone Peak 9+?
The outsole. The 9+ uses Vibram® Megagrip rubber while the standard 9 uses Altra's MaxTrac™. Upper, midsole, stack height and fit are the same. If your runs include wet rock, roots, or muddy Midwest singletrack, the Megagrip is worth it.

Is the Lone Peak 9+ good for hiking?
Yes. It's one of the most popular trail runners for day hiking and thru-hiking because of its roomy toe box, light weight and no break-in feel. If you want ankle coverage, look at the Lone Peak Hiker 3 or the Lone Peak 9 WP Mid.
