Executive Summary

  • The ASICS Superblast 3 is a max-cushion super trainer that pairs FF LEAP foam with FF BLAST PLUS for a soft, energetic, highly versatile ride.
  • Best for runners who want one shoe for easy runs, long runs, and some faster efforts without moving into a plated racing shoe.
  • Skip it if you want a lower-stack daily trainer or a dedicated race-day plate; the Superblast 3 is premium, cushioned, and built for range.

What’s New with the Asics Superblast 3?

Let's dive into it with our ASICS Superblast 3 Review. ASICS has made a great shoe even better with the Superblast 3! This max-cushioned super trainer now boasts a slab of FF Leap - the lightest and bounciest Asics foam to date. Combine this with Asics’ FF Blast Plus foam for durability and structure, and the result is one of the most versatile trainers on the market.

The Superblast 3 is noticeably softer than the Superblast 2, offering one of the best step-in feels I have ever experienced. A new trampoline pod design is built into the outsole for a more energetic toe-off without the “sinking in” feeling of other plush trainers. The Superblast 3 also debuts a new cord-style lacing system that helps distribute pressure more evenly on the top of the foot. I usually have issues with unisex sizing and the wider width, but the laces here can easily be locked down to accommodate narrower feet. The highly cushioned heel collar also makes sure your feet are secure through every step.

Built for energy return while still maintaining softness, the Superblast 3 will keep you bouncing through easy runs, long runs, and even tempo runs.

Who’s the Superblast 3 For?

  • -            Runners who are looking for one shoe to do it all
  • -            Those who have been hoping for a more cushioned Novablast
  • -            Runners looking to add a specific long run shoe to their rotation
  • -            Someone looking for a max-cushioned shoe with energy return

Who Might Not Love the Superblast 3?

  • -            Runners looking for a plated racing shoe: Try the Asics Metaspeed Series!
  • -            Someone looking for a less-cushioned daily trainer: Try the Asics Novablast 5!
  • -            Runners looking for a plated daily trainer: Try the Asics Sonicblast!
  • -            Those who miss the firmness of the Superblast 2 but still want max-cushion: Try the Asics Megablast!

Why You Need the Superblast 3?

If you’re looking for one shoe to do it all, the Superblast 3 is for you. The bouncy underfoot feeling combined with the light and breathable upper makes for an easy addition to any runner’s rotation. It can eat through miles with ease, making it perfect for all types of training. The “Goldilocks” cushioning (not too soft, not too firm) is comfortable without feeling too bulky. As a huge fan of the Novablast, I am excited to add the Superblast 3 to my rotation for long runs and tempo workouts. Plus, the colors are so cool!!

A max-cushioned shoe that is lightweight and feels fast? Yes please!
