Looking for a Ray of light to spark your 2026 PRs? Asics’ pinnacle race day shoe the Metaspeed Ray has arrived at The Running Well Store! This shoe is extremely limited to only select retailers and we are happy to be able to bring it to Kansas City! This ultra-light plated racing shoe ready to help you leap your PRs!

Key features include:

  • FF LEAP: A revolutionary new foam technology that is designed to be as lightweight and responsive as possible
  • MATRYX Upper: A brand new ultra-light weight upper while still securing the foot
  • ¾ Carbon Fiber Plate: A thin, shorter carbon plate designed to shave weight while still providing maximum energy return in the forefoot
  • ASICSGRIP Outsole: An ultra-thin layer of outsole rubber to provide sufficient traction on race day, while saving weight

As highlighted in every feature above, weight is the most significant innovation with the Metaspeed Ray, coming in at a staggering 129 grams or 4.5 ounces!! This weight, or lack thereof, is absolutely insane and immediately noticeable, even when picking up the box it feels empty!

Metaspeed Ray vs Metaspeed Sky/Edge Tokyo

With two other well-renowned race shoes in their lineup, what’s the difference? And which one is for you? While there are numerous slight differences, the main difference is the midsole.  While the Ray is 100% FF Leap, the lightest and bounciest Asics foam to date, the Metaspeed Sky and Edge Tokyo are a dual layer midsole consisting of both FF Turbo + and FF Leap. This foam is still nothing to scoff at, it’s still incredibly responsive and when paired with FF Leap and a full-length Carbon plate, it provides a slightly more stable and controlled ride that some runners may prefer while still being very light (157.3g/5.5 oz).
